In the first 5 years of its existence, Hudson Shakespeare, had seen many changes from its inception as a one time outdoor stage reading of A Mid Summer Night's Dream to branching out into further into Jersey City, into neighboring Hoboken, into surrounding communities in Hudson County, NJ and finally New York. In 1998, the Hudson Shakespeare Company underwent some dramatic changes that have shaped its operational structure and practices ever since. Some long time members decided to pursue other interests or continue to work with other theater groups, while a new core group took helm of HSC. An official board of directors was selected for HSC that consisted of company founder, L. Robert Johnson, long-time company member and theater veteran Andrew Foley, another veteran of local theater Bonnie Masters, company newcomers Jon Ciccarelli and John Corry Short. Hudson Shakespeare Company incorporated in 1998 and officially obtained non-profit status. Since 1998, the company began producing a stead stream of productions that at its core maintained 3 Shakespeare or classical productions for each month of the summer and an indoor winter season consisting of 2-3 showings at various venues. Such has been the case ever since. Please click on the show links to the left or on the titles below to view information and photographs for our 1998 shows.
