Edgar Allen Poe Showcase February 14, 2003 For the first showing of 2003, Hudson Shakespeare turned to presenting a new author and to augmenting our newest company program. HSC was contacted by Paramus High School to produce a special showing for their Edgar Allen Poe day. The showcase performance was an addition to day long events lectures and activities geared toward understanding and appreciating the works of Poe. As with previous showcase outings, HSC assembled a collection of scenes and commentary based on 4 of Poe's works with excerpts on his life. The works covered included the Tell Tale Heart, Annabelle Lee, The Raven and The Masque of the Red Death. The show was done in a reader's theater style format with a modicum of props and storybooks using 3 actors dressed in black to portray various characters in Poe's work and with another actor portraying the author himself.
