Lysistrata

Hamilton Park, Jersey City, NJ

July 22, 2004

The female chorus (from left Chance Parker, Hannah Wolfe, Doriane Swain) introduce some of the mature themes of the play.

Kleonike (Laura Malone, right) dismisses her friend Lysistrata's (Andrea Biggs) silly notion of women stopping the war between Athens and Sparta.

Lysistrata gathers her fellow conspirators together.  (From left, Tyleen Kelly, Andrea Biggs, Laura Malone, Jean Arlea, Chance Parker, and Cathy Hersh.

Lysistrata tries to salvage her plan after she drops the bomb shell of what it will take for her peace plan to work - not having sex with their husbands.

Holding her reluctant crew together, Lysistrata gives it a divine spin by having the group commemorate it with prayer and sacrifice...

...and with a sly oath.

The men of Athens arrive on the scene carrying back breaking logs and other fire implements to take back the acropolis lead on by the Commissioner of Public Safety (Matt Woods).

As the men pray to Athena to help them be victorious over their female enemy, the female chorus arrives to see what all the smoke and soot are about.

Dousing the men's attack plans with water.

General Lysistrata has arrives on the scene ready for battle with her rolling pin.

The battle hardened men having met their match don't know what to do with their worthy adversaries and eventually give in to the women's demand for peace.
