Lysistrata

Stratford Library Lovell Room

Stratford, CT

July 24, 2004

Due to inclement weather the Stratford performance was held indoors in the library's Lovell Room.

The female chorus (Doriane Swaine, Hannah Wolfe, and Chance Parker) introduce the naughty nature of the play.,

The ever fashionable Kleonike (Laura Malone) points out the proper oath for the women to swear their faith on to ratify Lysistrata's peace plan.

The toasts and sacrifices are made.

The men of Athens arrive to take back the acropolis and smoke the women out.

Instead the men find a very ticked off female chorus guarding the gates.

With the commissioner getting the brunt of their fury.

General Lysistrata prepares her women to do battle.

After their first successful fight, Lysistrata has to deal with a horny husband - Kinesias (Jonathan Brown) who comes to get his wife

The men unwilling to yield try to hold out against the women's teasing and promise of food.

Unable to take anymore the men call for Lysistrata to make her demands.

After some cajoling, the men finally make the peace.

Both Kinesias and the Commissioner revel in the wine at the celebratory banquet.
