In 2002, in cooperation with local theatrical promoter Cazimir Mizera and the Stratford Library Association, Hudson Shakespeare brought its Summer Festival to Stratford.  HSC began with a showcase of assorted Shakespeare scenes for Stratford Day June 2002 and then followed up later that month with a showing of The Merchant of Venice.  Located at 2203 Main St, the library is a stone's throw from the Connecticut Turnpike and the town's train terminal.  Outdoor shows are held in the library's outdoor amphitheater, and in case of inclement weather shows are moved into the Lovell Room, located in the lower level of the library.

One of Stratford's hidden treasures, a cemetery with headstones dating back over 200 years sits behind the library.  Several 18th century stones have been replaced with clearer markers and a dedication plaque to the early residents of Stratford marks the entrance.
