Located in the heart of Jersey City's historic Van Vorst district, at the corner of Montgomery Street and Jersey Avenue and across from the main branch of the Jersey City Free Public Library, this tree lined park is a favorite among waterfront residents. The park and district were named after Cornelius Van Vorst, mayor of Jersey City in 1860. Several brownstones and single house dwellings dating from that era are still present around the park and the surrounding neighborhood. The park's center gazebo and accompanying flower beds are lovingly maintained by the Van Vorst Park Association which sponsors several flee markets in the park throughout the summer months. Another of HSC's long time venues, the park also serves as our main rehearsal venues for all summer shows. Our performance area facing east towards Barrow Street, utilizes the bi-level Gazebo as a backdrop.
